It all begins with an adoption application. Applications are reviewed by a staff member then forwarded to the foster or facility to schedule meet-and-greets. We ask you to thoughtfully consider what kind of pet would fit well in your family now and for the lifetime of the pet. This is a commitment, and these animals are counting on you to be their family for the rest of their life. Start your Application today!!
Yes! We accept out-of-state adoptions. If a pet is listed on Petfinder in your state and we have an upcoming transport to that area.
We deliver adopted pets once a month via transport. The animals arrive in a climate-controlled van with two drivers that rotate driving and sleeping.
All animals are monitored the entire trip. The van departs from Justin, TX on a Thursday afternoon and arrives on Saturday. Times vary depending on road conditions/weather. We stop at Petcos for pick up and do not deliver the animals to homes. If you are wanting to adopt from another state or city but are near our routes, please let us know before finalizing an adoption so we can confirm arrangements.
We transport almost monthly to Portland, Oregon; Lacey, Washington; and Tukwila, Washington.
Every few months we also transport to the Midwest to cities such as St Louis, Missouri and Downers Grove, Illinois.
We also transport to the East Coast to Richmond, Virginia; Phillipsburg, New Jersey; Latham, New York; and Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
All other out-of-state adoptions would need to pick up in the DFW area. Our volunteers may be able to meet partway, but this is not a guarantee.
Vouchers are included in adoption folders for locally adopted pets. If you did not receive one or have misplaced it, please email [email protected] for a replacement.
Please Note: Out-of-state adopters do not receive vouchers but should send proof of spay/neuter to [email protected] for reimbursement.
If you adopted your pet from Apollo then please send us an email for assistance.
Otherwise, Rehome by Adopt A Pet provides an effective way to post and manage the adoption of your pet. The service costs $30 which you can recoup by setting an adoption fee of $30.

We are open daily from 8am to 5pm.

Thank you for considering us for your donations. We are open daily from 8am to 5pm typically, however our on-site hours may be staggered during the heat of the summer. There are people on site during non-business hours and items can be left on the deck in front of our office at any time day or night.
Yes we do. If the food is not in the original bag, we ask that you label the container with the food specifics.
We are always in need of linen for the dogs. We are unable to make use of pillows however.
Donations are used to provide care and medical treatment for our rescue animals until they are adopted. We supply fosters with all needed supplies, and we also have a facility with three buildings that house 100+ dogs managed by a full-time staff. We fundraise for specific projects/improvements so everyone knows what they are donating to. All Board of Directors members are volunteers.
Please visit our Donate tab to see how you can help us save more animals!.
We are not legally recognized as animal control and therefore we cannot pick up the animal. You can bring the animal to us and we will happily scan for a chip but due to space constraints we cannot keep the dog. We recommend you place the animal on all social media platforms and also fill out a Petco lost dog profile and/or a PawBoost post.
